Peer Review Process

Introduction

BORASPATI Journal maintains the highest standards of academic integrity through a rigorous and transparent peer review process. Every submission undergoes a systematic evaluation to ensure scientific quality, originality, and relevance to the fields of linguistics, education, and cultural studies.

Stages of the Peer Review Process

  1. Initial Screening (Desk Review): Upon submission, the Editor-in-Chief or Section Editor performs an initial evaluation. Manuscripts are checked for alignment with the journal's Focus and Scope, adherence to the Author Guidelines, and language quality.

  2. Plagiarism Check: All manuscripts are screened for similarity using Turnitin or iThenticate. BORASPATI Journal maintains a strict policy with a maximum similarity index of 20%. Submissions exceeding this limit or showing signs of plagiarism will be rejected immediately.

  3. Double-Blind Peer Review: Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. The identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the process to ensure objective and unbiased evaluation.

  4. Reviewer Evaluation Criteria: Reviewers assess the manuscript based on:

    • Originality and significance of the contribution (Novelty).

    • Rigordness of the methodology and data analysis.

    • Clarity of discussion and alignment with theoretical frameworks.

    • Up-to-dateness and quality of references (primary sources).

  5. Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editor makes one of the following decisions:

    • Accept Submission: The manuscript is ready for publication without further changes.

    • Revisions Required: The author must address specific comments before the paper can be accepted.

    • Resubmit for Review: The manuscript requires major revisions and will undergo a second round of review.

    • Decline Submission: The manuscript does not meet the journal's standards or scope.

  6. Final Production: Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, proofreading, and layout before being published in the scheduled issue.

Peer Review Policy

  • Anonymity: We strictly adhere to the Double-Blind model. Authors must ensure that their manuscripts do not contain any identifying information during the initial submission.

  • Reviewer Ethics: Reviewers must declare any potential conflict of interest and handle manuscripts with strict confidentiality. Reviews must be constructive, evidence-based, and free from personal bias.

  • Timeframe: BORASPATI Journal is committed to an efficient review cycle. The average time from submission to the first decision is 4 to 8 weeks.
